The population of the country has crossed the one billion-mark but India’s most searched query on the world’s top search engine is ‘How to get pregnant’. In the annual compilation of most searched things on Google.com, the search engine has come up with a report that reveals what Indian netizens have been looking for in 2010.

The ‘How to get pregnant’ query tops the how-to-do list tops followed by ‘How to kiss’, ‘How to impress a girl’, ‘How to improve spoken English’, ‘How to reduce weight’, ‘How to gain weight’ and also queries like ‘How to tie a tie’ and ‘How to make money’ and ‘How to meditate’.

British actress Aruna Shields, who debuted in the movie Prince, with Vivek Oberoi, was searched the most by Indians followed Sonakshi Sinha. Other favourites of the Indian netizens were Katrina Kaif, Zarine Khan and Salman Khan topped the male stars.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) login was the most searched term while for Mumbaikars the top searches were IPL 2010 schedule, Micromax mobile phone, FIFA cup, Shakira and Google translate application. Among social networking sites, the list started with Facebook, Youtube and Orkut.

According to Google, researchers studied the aggregation of billions of queries that people typed in the Google search this year to compile the report called Google Zeitgest 2010. Data from multiple resources, including insights, trends and internal data tools, was used to compile the report.

All the queries studied are anonymous and no personal information was used for compilation of most searched things on the search engine. “The Google India Zeitgeist throws up a panorama of events, moments and trends that shaped our lives this year. Google Zeitgeist 2010 is a real reflection of the spirit of the nation.” said Vinay Goel, Head of Products, Google India.
Movies like Kites, Endhiran and Dabangg topped the movie search.

“People search queries that they can’t ask anyone. This also points out that even today Indians have doubts regarding pregnancy,” said an IT expert.
