The state directorate of technical education (DTE) has directed all the universities and management institutes functioning under it to cancel admissions of those students who had allegedly submitted forged marksheets and other bogus documents to seek admission in MBA institutes.
After the communique was sent to the varsities on December 7, the department of management sciences of University of Pune (UoP), popularly known as PUMBA, expelled six of its students.
However, UoP officials were tight lipped on the issue. SK Mahajan, director, DTE, confirmed to DNA that the directorate has issued letters to universities and institutes to dismiss students who had submitted forged marksheets and fake documents. “We have called for explanations from students whose marksheets have been found to be bogus,” he said.
However, he declined to ascertain the number of students from whom DTE has sought the explanation.
