An ad of Ezeego travels and tours offering two Deccan airways tickets free on booking one and also giving 50% cashback on booking over the telephone with an ICICI credit card was quite a temptation for retired brigadier Mohan Jaisinghani. However, he approached the consumer court to compensate for alleged inappropriate services of the company.

Mumbai District Suburban Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum had ordered the company to pay Rs30,000 as compensation and Rs5,000 for cost of complaint.

His complaint said, he booked three tickets worth Rs25,423 for December 21, 2007 over the phone. However he did not receive any confirmation. He rushed to the airport at 3am on December 21, 2007 and booked three new tickets worth Rs41,273.

Jaisinghani demanded reimbursement of both bookings and Rs10 lakh compensation for physical and mental harassment. However, the company claimed the process of tele-booking failed due to “time-out”. The forum observed that having returned first amount the company was not bound to pay for the second.
