The case of two women claiming possession of 2-year-old Adarsh has reached the court. The judicial magistrate (first class), Umeshchandra More, on Friday issued a search warrant to senior police inspector of Sahakarnagar Police, directing him to produce Adarsh before the court on May 7.

DNA, had on April 25 (‘Women fight for kid’s custody’) reported that a tussle was on between two women over the possession of the child. While one is the biological mother, the other has adopted the child.

A black magician, Prakash Devidas Pawar, 37, had raped a woman when she approached him in 2005 to help her husband, who was not doing well in business.

Assuring the victim of getting rid of the evil spell, Pawar took her to cities like Kolhapur and Kolkata and allegedly raped her. She conceived and gave birth to Adarsh, the victim’s second child.
Pawar visited the victim’s house in January 2011 and took custody of the child, after forcing the rape victim and her husband to sign documents related to adoption.

Although the police have arrested Pawar in March this year, his wife Pallavi is reluctant to part with the child on grounds that the adoption papers are genuine.

When the Cantonment Police failed to help her, the 33-year-old victim moved an application through lawyer Shrikant Shivade against Pawar and his wife to seek custody of her son.

“Adarsh is presently in the custody of Pallavi’s father, Satish Ramchandra Chavan, in Dhankavdi,” Shivade alleged.

The rape victim has alleged that Pawar, who claimed to be a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena office-bearer, had threatened to kill the couple and their elder son.

The victim stated in her application that the police are not taking any proactive step to file a kidnapping case against Pawar for forcibly taking away Adarsh.

She alleged that Pawar wanted to retain the child’s custody so that the victim couple could not depose before the court against him.
