About 112 newly recruited scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) would undergo a post-induction training school (Points) course for integrated training at Defence Institute of Advanced Technology in Girinagar, Pune.

Secretary of the department of atomic energy and chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), Dr Srikumar Banerjee, will inaugurate the course on April 25.

The vice chancellor of DIAT, LM Patnaik, told reporters on Thursday that the objective of this 20-week intensive training programme is to orient the freshly recruited scientists towards the organisational objectives of the DRDO along with the current and futuristic technologies.

“The programme is focused to motivate and inspire the young scientists to constantly upgrade their technical capabilities and inculcate the spirit of innovative thinking which will help them to lead futuristic defence technology programmes,” he added.
These scientists have been selected through campus recruitment from prestigious institutions and universities like IISc, IITs, NITs and limited departmental competitive examination schemes. The scientists have been divided into seven technology streams: aeronautics, armament engineering, combat engineering and vehicles, electronics and computer science, materials and metallurgy, missiles and naval sciences.
