205 holiday special trains this year-end

The Central Railway will be running four air-conditioned special trains between Mumbai and Goa to clear the extra rush of passengers during Christmas 2010 and New Year 2011.

The Central Railway will be running four air-conditioned special trains between Mumbai and Goa to clear the extra rush of passengers during Christmas 2010 and New Year 2011.

They will also be running a record 205 holiday specials to various destinations during December 2010.

Western Railway will also run holiday special trains between Mumbai to Bhuj (two trips) and from Valsad to Haridwar (one trip only) for the benefit of passengers. The Bombay-Goa specials will have accommodation for approximately 750 people in all the air-conditioned classes per trip.

The special train will leave Mumbai CST at 8.35pm on December 24 and January 1 and will reach Madgaon at 6.30am the next day.

The return train will leave Madgaon at 9.20pm on December 26 and January 2 and will arrive at Mumbai CST at 7.40am the next day. It will halt at Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri, Thivim and Karmali. It will comprise one AC-I Class, one AC 2-tier cum AC 3-tier, two AC 2-tier, nine AC 3-tier and two luggage vans.

Meanwhile, due to the ongoing Gurjar agitation in Rajasthan, 28 mainline trains of Western Railway, including the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express, have been diverted and rescheduled on Wednesday. Diverted trains will reach their destinations late by six to eight hours.
