Winter in the country's financial capital has always been mild; and if they ever feel the winter chill, it's always short-lived.

This year is no exception. Weathermen have a bad news for Mumbaikars who seemed to be enjoying the cool pleasant weather that the city has been experiencing since early this week. There is a possibility of temperature soaring, and dry and warm weather settling in from today.

As per private weather forecasting groups, a deep storm is likely to cross Tamil Nadu coast around December 15 and 16 due to which an East-West trough is likely to attract easterly winds into the state.

"As the deep storm approaches, moisture will creep into Telangana, Marathwada and Vidarbha. Rains and thundershowers with hail are likely in the Marathwada and Vidarbha region on Saturday and Sunday," said Rajesh Kapadia, a private weather forecaster, adding that with easterly winds blowing across the state, the temperatures will start to drop in the interior of the state during the day. However, the Konkan Coast will warm up again.

"The easterly winds bring hot air in and hence Mumbai will see a rise in the day temperature to around 33 °C likely from today. The city will feel the days getting warmer and the pleasant lows of the last three nights can also rise by a couple of degrees to around 20 °C," informed Kapadia.

While the city has been facing hot and humid days it also saw the lowest minimum temperature for this season — 16 °C being recorded on Tuesday.
