Putting to rest speculation of parting ways with the BJP, with whom his party shares power  in Maharashtra as well as the Centre, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said the party would continue to be part of the coalition state government.

However, he stressed that the party would continue in power not as a ruler but to fulfil the needs and demands of the people, even as he continued with his threat of pulling out at any time.

Addressing the traditional Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Saturday, Thackeray said “It (BJP) is not treating Sena fairly. If the BJP fails to control the inflation, reduce corruption, generate jobs and ensure the safety of the women, then we will not hesitate to make this BJP led government unstable. I will not wait for any auspicious occasion to pull out from this government.”

Thackeray also took on the Narendra Modi-led central government on a range of issues, including cow protection, women’s safety, demonetization, and the Rohingya influx.

He said even after the surgical strike and demonetization, the terrorist activities has been increased.  “Even today, I do not understand why and for whom the demonetization was done,” Thackeray said.
