The Vile Parle police busted an online job fraud racket when they nabbed five persons from Delhi on Friday. The group used to be on the lookout for youngsters seeking jobs and would pose as employers from reputed airline companies.

While explaining the modus operandi of the gang, the police said, the gang would target people who posted their resumes on online job portals. The police said that with the same modus operandi the accused had recently duped a Vile Parle-based man of Rs 3 lakh on the pretext of giving him a job in Jet Airways.

According to the police, the victim, Dhaval Patil, had posted his resume on a job portal and had received an email purportedly from the airline company offering him a job. Following which the victim received a call within few hours from an 'HR executive' who told him that he has been selected for the first round of the interview and will have to pay a certain amount as a procedural fee. After paying the fees, the accused lured the victim for several new offers, job position and salary package and manage to siphon off money from him.

"We tracked them to Noida and have nabbed them. We are still on the lookout for the mastermind behind the racket," said a police officer from Vile Parle police station. Cyber expert Shubham Singh said,"There are several fake emails that fraudsters use to target their potential victim. However, the victims should be alert and verify it with the company's website and then only communicate."
