Traffic diversion in south mumbai owing to Metro work

With regards to the ongoing Metro line 3 project in South-Mumbai, the Mumbai Traffic Police have made changes in the routine traffic pattern. The police have also made few temporary arrangements of traffic routes from Friday till the completion of the first phase of work and for the smooth regulations vehicular traffic on the roads.

According to traffic police, considering the ongoing Mumbai Metro Line-3 project of MMRCL that is carrying out construction work for total 6 Metro stations in South Mumbai and western suburbs have made several changes on total six routes where the metro station are being built.

The stretch of D.N. Road on northbound from Hutatma Junction up to Purushottamdas Thakurdas Marg Junction will be closed for all types of vehicular traffic for 24 hours. There are also no left and right turns at few roads as well as no parking areas at various spots at D.N. Road, J.S.S road, Dr. Annie Besant Road, Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg in BKC and Kondvita Road.

While due to the utility shifting work for Metro station at Domestic Airport, the Airport Road is closed for southern two lanes and traffic will be diverted in the same direction from northern three lanes from the eastern gate of hotel Taj to the Airport taxi stand.

“People are requested to follow the instructions given by Traffic police deployed at strategic points, Necessary directional and informative boards are being put up at important junctions to guide the motorists,” said a traffic police officer.

"We are taking all necessary steps to ensure minimum inconvenience to the commuters due to the ongoing metro work.The motorists are requested to co-operate with traffic police in their efforts to regulate traffic in the best possible matter," he added.
