A one-month tour went unexpectedly wrong for four Palghar professors and their families who are stuck in the flood-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir. They have not been able to contact their families back home and are seeking help from locals to return safely.

The team from Motilal Kanji Junior college in Chinchni at Dahanu, which includes professors Anil Singh, Shivprakash Gupta, Subhash Dhangar and Anil Sankhe and a group of 12 others, set out for a tour in Jammu and Kashmir on 29 August, following which incessant rainfall led to floods in several parts there.

"On Tuesday night they had called to inform that they were trapped in flood-hit Anantnag with waist-deep water. They tried to seek help from the locals and asked us to contact local authorities to rescue them," said advocate Vinita Patil, a relative of professor Anil Sankhe.

"They were expected to return on 8 September. However, due to lack of electricity they are not able to contact for help and leave J&K," said Patil.
