Criticising both the NCP and Congress for not doing anything for Maratha reservation, Shiv Sangram organisation's president and MLC Vinayak Mete on Friday said that those who could not provide reservation for the last 15 years are now giving an ultimatum to the government.

Terming it as mockery, Mete while addressing a press conference at Mantralaya on Friday said that the Congress on the eve of elections pretended to give reservation benefits, but kept loopholes which resulted in the rejection of the same in a court of law. Mete accused both the Congress and NCP of depriving the Marathas of reservation benefits and said that is why the community is not included in the OBC category.

Mete said that the younger generation of the Maratha community was educated and they would not fall prey to the Congress and NCP misinformation campaign. He pointed out that he himself had provided legal experts to protect reservation benefits for the community but since the previous Congress-NCP government had something else in mind, they made the case weak. He said that it was Congress-NCP which purposely did not include the Marathas within the OBC and knew that it would be rejected by the courts. Mete alleged that even today's ultimatum by Congress was nothing but trying to politicize the issue instead of exploring solution.

Mete alleged that it was NCP leader Chagan Bhujbal who had appealed Ganesh Mandals to organize for Satya Narayan Poojas for fulfilling the demand of reservation benefits to Maratha community. He said that it was in 2009 when he had organized a big rally at Shivaji Park for pressing the demand of reservation to Maratha community that Bhujbal had appealed for organizing Satyanarayan Poojas.
