After state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested a close 'aide' of Islamic scholar Zakir Naik on charges of allegedly converting youth from Kerala and inciting them to join Islamic State (IS), Mumbai police have stated that they would inquire if Naik's aide, who was associated with Naik's Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), was instrumental in conversion in Mumbai too. Now that one Arshi Qureshi, who is associated with IRF was arrested by the ATS after it was alleged that he was instrumental in forced conversion of few youths and motivated them to join IS, we too are making inquiry into this aspect to ascertain if such conversion had taken in Mumbai also or not. The ATS too would be providing us information about Qureshi and we would incorporate their information in our report," said a senior officer from Mumbai police, requesting anonymity.
