The Oshiwara police have arrested two youths for allegedly raping two minor sisters. According to the police, the victims, aged 16 and 14, were known to both the accused.

The victims eloped with the youths, aged 19 and 20, on October 1. S Vele, senior inspector of Oshiwara police, said, "The sisters eloped from their home in Jogeshwari West. While one of the girls returned home the next day, her sister did not come back. When their mother quizzed her, the girl confessed about their friendship with the men."

The mother registered a complaint with the police on Tuesday. The police arrested one of the accused on Wednesday from Marol. Vele said, "We formed a team and nabbed the second accused from his home in Nalasopara on Thursday. The 14-year-old girl was with him there." Both victims were allegedly sexually assaulted by their respective lovers.

Since the victims were minors, both the accused were arrested on charges of rape as well as under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act. While the victims were school students, both the accused worked at a hotel in Jogeshwari, close to where the sisters live. The youths had been meeting the sisters for the last few months.
