The BJP-led government in Maharashtra, which is completing three years in office, is compiling a list of its achievements and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis himself has directed all his ministers to send five best decisions taken or implemented by their departments.

Fadnavis has sent a signed letter to every minister asking them to list five decisions, preferably taken in last one year, so that the government can showcase these achievements before public. The letter, sent on September 5, has September 15 deadline for ministers to respond.

The ministers have been asked to focus on decisions which have impacted society at large or decisions which have received national or international acclaim. The letter also states that if the ministers fail to send five best decisions by September 15, it would be considered that the department has not done anything or has not performed well.

An official told DNA that though this could be routine exercise a government undertakes after every year in office, this time it has attained importance as the CM means business. A veteran leader from the BJP state unit said the letter assumes all the more significance since there is a talk of Cabinet expansion and reshuffle, which can be expected anytime after Pitru Paksha is over or during the Nav Ratri or Dussera. An official from the Chief Minister's office told on condition of anonymity that prima facie most of the departments have done well, barring a handful of them.

According to government watchers, Chandrakant Patil, second-in-command in the government after Fadnavis, has not performed well when it comes to PWD. Same is the case with Shiv Sena's Minister for Environment Ramdas Kadam. A few departments like education, social justice, and tribal welfare would be able to show five best decisions, but have attained bad publicity for government for being in news for the wrong reasons.
