Learn everything about marine life at this fish exhibition

Thanekars are in for a visual delight as more than 100 fish tanks with around 500 different fish species will be on display at Joshi Bedekar College on Chendani Bunder road in Thane from May 26 to 29.

People will get to see some rare species like Triggerfish, Lionfish, Yellowtail damselfish, Blue damselfish, Stingray, Mata tang, Moon wrasse, Checkerboard wrasse, Gold head goby, Moorish idol, Wimple, Bluering angel, Koran angel, Brown ill, Clown fish, Stone fish, Bat fish, Fire clown, Yellow butterfly, among others. Huge fishes like Alligator gar, Aropriama, Grey giant gurami, Showel nose catfish, Red Grad 2 Arowana, Black ghost will also be on display.

Organised by Laukik Creations, the exhibition is meant to educate people not only about the name of the fishes, but also their food habits, flora, fauna, etc. "The objective of such an exhibition is to quell the curiosity about the rare species of fish and other animals from the aqua life and also to inculcate love for the aqua life among youngsters," said Laukik Soman, organiser of the event.

Moreover, those interested to take these beautiful creatures home, their will also be information given about how to set up the aquarium, instruments used, its maintenance.

A fish is considered to be a symbol of good luck and placing a fish tank in appropriate direction can bring prosperity and other benefits. This knowledge is put to use both in Vastushastra and Feng Shui.
