The victims identified as Sanya Sikander Khan (5) and Anjali Rishikesh Jaiswal (9), who were residents of Kurla east were first raped and later murdered by the arrested accused Rehaan Qureshi in 2010.
Eight years after the two minor girls were raped and murdered, the parents of the victims have expressed their satisfaction over due action that was finally taken.
The victims identified as Sanya Sikander Khan (5) and Anjali Rishikesh Jaiswal (9), who were residents of Kurla east were first raped and later murdered by the arrested accused Rehaan Qureshi in 2010. As per police records of 2010, Khan who used to live with her parents in a small house was playing near the veranda and shortly after, she disappeared. Later the police were alerted that Khan’s body was found near the terrace of an MRA building and the physical appearance of the body clearly indicated that she was raped and brutally murdered.
Speaking to DNA, Khan’s father Sikander said, “I thought that day to be a normal one. The tension that I struggled with is something which I could not describe then and cannot even now. I saw my daughter lying and her undergarments were stuffed inside her mouth; the killer ensured that she did not shout. Her head was smashed against the terrace wall just to ascertain that she is dead. One side of her head was smashed and was bleeding profusely. I am just content that the killer has been arrested but our loss is something that only we know. After the incident, I incurred debts against loans I had taken to fight the case and we faced many social and economic problems. I pray that no girl meets this sort of fate which my daughter did.”
“The police acted efficiently and we were assured of help from politicians and cops. We still suspect this to be one person’s job. But, after eight years, we all have moved ahead.”
