"Ganpati bappa morya, pudchya varshi lavkar ya!" This slogan echoed all over Mumbai on Monday, the last day of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. But for the dna team, Ganpati does not end with the immersion of the idol. It marked an extra day by taking up responsibility and organising a clean up of Juhu beach, one of the most popular spots in the city for Ganesh immersion, on Tuesday morning.

Juhu beach is one such prominent stretch in the city that becomes extremely polluted after the immersion of Ganesh idols. As a part of dna eco-Ganesha Awards, the team organised the clean up activity on Tuesday morning beginning at 5 am at Juhu beach. The participants in this initiative included not just dna employees but also volunteers from Juhu Angel (an NGO), corporates and concerned individuals.

The volunteers participating in the initiative were provided with gloves and masks for protection.

The eco-Ganesha initiative by dna marked its third year in 2014 by encouraging eco-friendly ways of celebrating the Ganesh Festival. These celebrations included malls hosting eco-Ganesha, eco-Ganesha Society awards and Beach clean-up drive.

Rani Mukherjee, had also lauded dna's eco-Ganesha initiative. In an interview with dna, she says, "I think it's great that dna has taken the initiative for celebrating eco-ganesha. We need to preserve our Environment. I have been bringing idols made of clay for years.
