Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Bureau sleuths have found a weapon, two loaded magazines and a dozen of debit and credit cards from the private vehicle used by Police Inspector Anand Bhoir, who has been arrested in a bribery case. The ACB while seeking Bhoir's custody told the court that it is to be investigated if Bhoir was using an unlicensed firearm.

According to the ACB, the complainant runs a Liberty Wines shop at Fort. Bhoir, who was posted with Unit X of Crime Branch in Andheri, had carried out a raid wherein 900 foreign liquor bottles were seized from a particular godown and one person was arrested in that case. One of the accused in the case was the brother of the complainant in ACB's bribery case.

"On December 29, Bhoir had visited complainant's shop and had demanded Rs 25 lakh bribe. He later settled for Rs 22 lakh. The complainant then approached the ACB. Bhoir had decided to exchange cash on January 1 and had called the complainant at his Andheri office. At Andheri, Bhoir accompanied the complainant inside the premises of Andheri Police Station and made him sit for nearly 30 minutes.

During the said time, Bhoir had gone to meet someone. He later met the complainant, took him to his Innova parked nearby where deal took place and later ACB trap was laid," said an ACB officer explaining the sequence of events of the case.

Seeking ACB custody of Bhoir, public prosecutor argued before the court, "During the search, a dozen debit and credit cards found in the card. Bhoir owned a personal pistol, two magazines and seven rounds. It needs to be inquired whether he had the license of the firearm."

In his defence, Bhoir's advocate argued, "If Bhoir wanted to extort money from the complainant, he would not have shown complainant's brother as an accused in the case. Prior to this complaint, the complainant and his family have reported not less than seven cases with ACB and CBI against various departments including IT, Sales Tax and Police. They are habitual complainants. Also, Rs 22 lakh was withdrawn before the complain was lodged with the ACB. The complainant had already planned to frame my client and ACB was misused."
