A 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the sea at Juhu beach on Tuesday night. Anmol Sandal's body was found at the beach shore around 11pm. His relatives, who had filed a missing person complaint with the Oshiwara police around 10pm, told the police that the boy was suffering from depression.

According to the police, Sandal and his brother had come from Delhi to visit their sister in Malad for Rakshabandhan. "After visiting their sister, the two went to visit their uncle's family in Oshiwara on Tuesday. Around 8pm, Sandal left home without telling anyone. The relatives, after searching for him, filed a complaint," said senior inspector Padmakar Chavan of the Santa Cruz police.

After locals found the body, they called the Santa Cruz police. Later, the relatives were called, they identified it as Sandal's and it was then handed over to them. "We were told that the deceased was under medication and treatment for depression. No external injuries were found on the body," added Chavan.

The Santa Cruz police have registered a case of accidental death.
