Congress group leader Devendra Amberkar on Tuesday threatened to move a motion of no-confidence against BMC chief Sitaram Kunte, following a decision by the administration to demote deputy municipal commissioner of zone III Ramesh Pawar. Several corporators. including BJP's Ameet Satam, Samajwadi Party's Rais Shaikh and Congress' Asif Zakaria, spoke unanimously against the decision and said it is demotivating for honest and hard-working employees such as Pawar.

"It is unfair on BMC's part to take a decision like this without consulting house members. If the decision of his promotion was taken after consultation with the house, why was the house not consulted on the decision to demote him?" asked Zakaria.

Additional municipal commissioner (city) Mohan Adtani said the decision has been taken in accordance with the Supreme Court order, which came two months ago in this regard.
