The Mumbai board of state housing authority (MHADA) has registered a complaint with the cyber police against 25 websites. The claimed that these websites are giving out unauthentic information about the Mumbai board lottery. MHADA sells homes at cheaper rates compared to the ones in market via a lottery.

The complaint was filed by the chief officer of the Information Technology Department of MHADA.

MHADA claims that the websites are giving out information about the lottery though they haven't announced anything officially yet. "One of the websites even gave out details on the dates of the lottery. How can we allow such a thing to happen? We have approached the police and want these websites to be shut down," says a senior MHADA official.

MHADA plans to come up with a lottery of nearly 1001 homes located in various locations in Mumbai. However, they haven't yet announced it officially yet. Usually, MHADA lottery takes place in May, but it was delayed last year. MHADA mentioned in the complaint that some of the websites are even answering questions on how to apply for the MHADA lottery. "We have our own website to answer such queries and also provide details on the lottery," said the official.

There have been instances of agents trying to misguide commoners and conning them by taking money against false promises of providing them flats. MHADA has been trying to sensitise applicants that apart from the lottery, there is no way to acquire a MHADA flat.
