Businessman shot to death in Malad

A 38-year-old civil contractor and businessman was shot dead by unknown assailants in Malad (W) on Monday night. The incident happened around 11:40pm, when the deceased, Shekhar Aduwala, was travelling on his scooter towards his house after work.

Prakash Patil, senior PI of Malwani police said, "When Aduwala and his 16-year-old son were crossing Ganesh Garden in Jankalyan Nagar, a speeding bike came from behind, there were three people sitting on it. One of them took out a gun and shot Aduwala on his head. They fled immediately."

Aduwala fell on the road and bleed profusely. His son, Dhiraj, started screaming for help, after which a few passersby took him to Shatabdi Hospital.

Aduwala was declared dead before admission due to severe injuries. The Malwani police have registered a case of murder against the unknown persons. "We have recorded Dhiraj's statement and also of other family members. The assailants could not be identified as it was dark when the incident happened and there was hardly anybody on the road at that time." added Patil.

As per the family's statements, the deceased had business rivalry with his brother and had frequent quarrels with him. "Although, the dispute with his brother could be the motive, it is too early to say anything. We are questioning his family members and colleagues. Investigations are on," said Patil.
