The Bangur Nagar police have arrested the owner of Geeta Developer, a construction company, accused of violating the Maharashtra Ownership of Flats Act (MOFA) and for cheating buyers.

The accused has been identified as the S Undalkar (40) hailing from Mira Bhayandar.

According to police, Megha Arora, a senior citizen, had approached the police in October 2016, claiming that she had booked a flat with Geeta Developer in 2015, and paid an amount of Rs 21 lakh. But, Undalkar failed to give her possession of the flat within the deadline. Not just this, Undalkar didn't even return her money, Arora said. The police had then registered a case against Undalkar under section 8 of MOFA of the Indian Penal Code.

"He was absconding since October. We arrested him on Thursday from Mira Bhayander," said Santosh Bhandare, Senior Police Inspector, Bangur Nagar Police Station.
