Thousands of students and their parents in the Vasai-Virar belt are worried after a recent decision by the government making it compulsory for the children to submit their Aadhaar card in schools. They have been left in the lurch because Aadhaar enrolment centres in the belt have shut down.

The recent government resolution hasn’t gone down well with parents who say they have nowhere to go and schools, in order to complete the procedure, are pressurising them.  Education officer, Vasai Circle, Ramesh More said, “We have asked schools to collect copies of Aadhaar cards of students. Those students who have not yet received their card can submit the application letter.”

More confirmed that enrolment centres in the Vasai-Virar belt had shut down but added, “They can go to any enrolment centre in Mumbai.”
