With the introduction of the AMG C63 S, Mercedes-Benz has now launched its 11th new model in the Indian automotive market this year and with its launch, the German giant’s ‘15 in 15’ strategy is well on track. The AMG C63 S is priced at Rs 1.3 crore (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 S performance sedan which was first showcased at the Paris Motor Show, has now been launched in India. With its launch, Mercedes has now successfully launched 11 out of the 15 new models that had been promised to India in 2015 and becomes the 10th car under the Mercedes-Benz India banner to wear the AMG badge.

Based on the standard Mercedes nomenclature, the C63 S is a highly tuned-up high performance version of the standard C-Class sedan and sports the same mammoth 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine that powers the AMG GT S. The car also boasts of a 7-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox with five settings: Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race and Individual. In terms of figures, the engine produces 510PS of power at 5500-6250rpm and a maximum torque of 714Nm at 1750-4500rpm.

This immense grunt means that the super quick sedan can reach 100km/h from a standstill in around 4 seconds and can touch an electronically limited top-speed of 250km/h. Despite its immense power, the addition of the Biturbo has resulted in the AMG C63 S consuming 32 per cent less fuel than the previous version making it one of the most economical 8-cylinder performance sedan.

I must admit that I was never a big fan of the Mercedes design lingo used in the 90’s and early 2000’s but the new designs that the German conglomerate has been churning out have been absolutely fabulous.

The new C-Class sedan was no different, and in my opinion blew the Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series out of the water in terms of prettiness. The AMG C63 S is still the same looking C-Class albeit with some classy AMG touches like the 19-inch alloy wheels, twin-blade AMG branded front grille, twin AMG exhaust pipes and an aluminium front wing. On the inside, the sport seats showcase high grade contrast stitch-work on the ARTICO leather covered dash with plenty of carbon-fibre bits accentuating the cabin. You can even get the interiors customized with Mercedes’ optional Designo package.

Mercedes-Benz will face-off against arch rivals BMW with the AMG C63 S set to take on the BMW M3 head-on. The exciting performance sedan will retail in India at Rs 1.3 crore (Ex-showroom, Delhi)
