Hyundai Creta is Indian car of 2016; Yamaha R3, bike of the year

The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and the Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) have been accepted as the recognition given to the finest and best-performing car and motorcycle launched in the last one year.

Hyundai's Creta SUV has been named the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY). In bikes, the Yamaha R3 has been named the Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY).

The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and the Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) has been accepted as the recognition given to the finest and best-performing car and motorcycle launched in the last one year. 

The top three contenders in the cars category were Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Renault Kwid. In the motorcycle category, the Yamaha R3 was followed by the Benelli TNT 300 and the Honda CBR650 respectively. 

Each year, the nominated cars and bikes are judged on parameters like price, fuel economy, styling, comfort, safety, performance, racticality and technical innovation, value for money, and the vehicle's suitability for Indian conditions. 

Commenting on the win, Y K Koo, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited said, “We are honoured to win the most prestigious automotive award".
