If you’re looking to make a fashion splash, take a tip or two...or even seven from these standout scorchers from the WIFW ramp:

Do you have a philosophy or an ideology or even adore someone? Wear them, then. We've seen smiling Barack Obama motifs on Jean-Charles De Castelbajac dresses, so why should Manmohan Singh be far behind? Candice Pinto walked the ramp in an outfit  by designer Rohit Mittal.

Old movie posters are not just for your living room or CD covers. It's time you stuck them on your bags, badges or even cell-phone covers. We love our stars, admit it, and some of us do so shamelessly. Take a look at Nida Mohammad's stuff.

Ruffles move on to the next season as well. Frill-seekers will already be in lust as this entirely delicious trend continues into Spring/Summer. Flounces can be elegant as long as they're worn with a little restraint and some skin show. Gaurav Gupta innovated the ruffles by adding different strokes of colour to them.

Designer Vineet Bahl created a look with geometrical stripes as did Rahul Mishra. This time, Mishra’s  collection 'Threads of Freedom' saw a refreshing mix-n-match of geometrical stripes and checks, classic muted colours of black, ivory, grey and indigo blue.

Tangy orange is the colour of this summer. For the colour-wary, just a burst of this luscious shade will make you shine like a bright star. Either dress the hue in a blouse or even a hint of it in your gladiator flats with a perfect white summer dress or even jeans. Are we dreaming already? There’s never too much of this shade, trust us. From Atsu to Ritu Kumar to Rajesh Pratap Singh, everyone has tried it and emerged beaming.

Not everything flows in synergy. Asymmetry on the hems or at the shoulder are hot this season. Internationally, Balmain had graduation hemlines in dresses, whereas Versace had slim straps. Back home Lecoanet Hemant did a brilliant job on putting the pattern on a kurta that looked simply stunning.

It is a myth that roses are only for the oldies — there's nothing more sassy than seeing them on the catwalk. Embrace la vie en rose in real life with bold, fiery blooms printed onto saris, stitched like corsages onto dresses or added to a pair of simple strappy sandals for a touch of sizzle. Take a clue from Gayatri Khanna and bling it up a bit to go the furthest mile.
