Meera Mahadevia just got back from Paris!

Bag designer Meera Mahadevia is on cloud nine as she was the only Indian to be invited to the Vendome Luxury Exhibition in Paris, to show her new line of bags along with other designer brands.

“I was part of 29 elite names in the world, under one roof and it was almost like putting India on the global map of high-end fashion accessories,” recalls an elated Meera.

Ask her who she wished to bump into at the event and she candidly says, “Paris is a city which is always buzzing with fashion and a fashion week was going on during the time of our exhibition. Just being a part of all this was what made my 26 year journey in designing worth it.”

The Paris trip was not about all play and no work for Meera, as she insists, “International buyers from big and well-known fashion houses such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols kept me on my toes.”

Drawing a comparative analysis between the trends in India and abroad, Meera says that over here, the focus is always on clothes and accessories are often bought as an afterthought.

Talking of the line she showcased at the exhibition, Meera reveals she used different kinds of texturing not only on metal but also on leather, like shaded leather, crushed gold back and a lot of traditional Indian techniques to enhance the accessories. Meera will also be showing an accessories line in Belgium.
