When it’s festive season, it’s also time to go gift scouting. We say, let’s not restrict this fun aspect to only mithais and clothes, and go unconventional.

For instance, have you heard of a fruit bouquet? Says Reza Kazerooni, the brain behind the edible bouquet, “Gifts are given straight from the heart, but it is even more appreciated it if there’s a degree of novelty and utility to it. And that is our edible bouquet — fresh, healthy and made of the choicest fruits extends that idea.”

Reza recommends a starry surprise bouquet as a gift for a household with kidsm flower power bouquet for young couple, and  love-at-first-sight or berry kiwi blossom bouquet for married couple.

The bouquets consist of fruits — fresh kiwis, strawberries, pineapples and imported orange chunks in place of regular flowers, and these can be planted in porcelain vases to increase its appeal.

Sneha Raisoni, who has a gifting store in South Mumbai, says that people are now moving away from traditional gifts like candles, and are indeed looking for funkier options.

“It really doesn’t matter what the occasion is. Funky and spunky gifts are what people want now,” says Sneha who has stalked up 14-inch tall cylindrical and vertical floor lamps in her store. She also advocates a box of chocolates as a substitute to mithais.

“The chocolates inside are laced with desi flavours of paan masala, garam masalas, ginger and chilly,” says Sneha.

And when everything else fails, just pick up a balloon basket. Yes, you heard right. A boutique in South Mumbai makes attractive and colourful balloon baskets that can even be customised upon request. And some balloons even sing. It can’t get better than this, folks!
