Two years ago, at the Art For Concern auction, a well-know corporate wiz bought a painting for Rs 12 lakh which was actually estimated at Rs 80,000. This time, the auction is expected to be a bigger event, celebrating the 10th year of Art For Concern. Ameeta Munshi of Concern India says, “Artist Akbar Padamsee very sweetly created a special metascape of the size three feet by two feet.” She adds, “You could get a Jitish (Kallat) for Rs six to seven lakhs and Baiju Parthan’s art work is estimated at Rs 75,000 to Rs 95,000. The steal is KG Subramanyan’s work which is estimated at Rs 1,20,000 to 1,80,000.”

Ameeta confirms, “While most artists have given the works for no cost at all, a few artists have asked for a minimum percentage from what their art work will fetch at the auction.” The money raised at the auction will go towards the various charities that Concern India Foundation supports.

The preview will be held on March 2 and 3 at the Tuscan Joss. The auction is on March 4 at the same venue.
