Funny man Vir Das wears multiple hats, and this time around, the actor, singer and comedian is going to make his playback singing debut. In his upcoming film Amit Sahni ki List, Vir will be singing a song composed by his comedy rock band Alien Chutney — comprising Sidd Cutto (drums), Warren Mendosa (guitar), Kaizad Gherda (keyboard) and Vir (vocals). “We are writing an anti- love song for the film. It is a conceptually funny song about hatred,” says Vir. And though he dodges divulging much about the song, he does state that “it is a very angry and a fast song.”

Insisting that it is easy to create a lovey-dovey song about a happy couple, the band is all set to debunk the love anthems and churn out a hate song as they believe, “there is a larger fraction of people who are out of love than those who want to celebrate love”.  Says Vir, “Anyone can write a love song showing a happy couple romancing so we wanted to make a hate song that people can relate with.”

Also, the band will be shooting a special video for the song. “It only makes sense to have a funny song and a video to go with it,” reveals Vir. “I want to make a song to make single people happy. And that will be the aim of the video too. Like you know those annoying couples you see at parties and you cannot stand them... I think my video will show a lot of annoying things happening to these couples (laughs). It’s going to be a song where single people can sing out loud.”

While Vir has six releases next year, he also played recently at the NH7 music festival in Delhi with his band on the same stage as Megadeth. He will also be seen singing in his forthcoming film Go Goa Gone.
