Peter Brook's new 'Mahabharata' play set to unveil in Paris

The play will be in India in March 2016 to be staged at Tata Theatre in Mumbai.

Peter Brook, an English theatre and film director, is all to unveil his new play on 'Mahabharata' at Paris's Theatre du Bouffes du Nord on September 15, a leading daily reports. Titled Battlefield, the play captures the victory of the Kurukshetra war and the aftermath of its bloodshed. 

According to the report, The veteran theatre director first decided to direct a play based on the Mahabharat after the Vietnam war and staged it as a nine hour French drama in which danseuse Mallika Sarabhai played a radical Draupadi.

Brook is one Britain's foremost theatre directors. He directed his first Shakespearean play, King John, in 1945 for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. He  has worn several awards like Tony and Emmy Awards and the Laurence Olivier award for his work.

The play goes on an international tour next year and will be in India in March 2016 to be staged at Tata Theatre in Mumbai.
