While the Met Gala has always been a memorable night for fashion, this time around celebrities shone on the red carpet for their unique beauty looks. Ciara and Zendaya went for fabulous wigs, where as others like Katy Perry embraced the goth look. Lily Aldridge went for gilded brows, while Queen Bey chose edgy cat eyes. Most stuck to the Manus x Machina theme, offering futuristic touches. Overall, the night offered much inspo for hair and make-up enthusiasts.

EYE OF THE TIGRESS

Amidst all the speculations around ‘Becky with great hair’ in her latest album Lemonade, Beyonce slayed it on the red carpet. She went for a bold dark cat eye, keeping the rest of her make-up in neutral tones. Center-parted hair completed her look.

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE LOCKS

Rita Ora shimmered on the red carpet for more than one reason. The songstress pulled off a glamorous metallic Vera Wang feathered gown. She added shimmery eye make-up and a subtle pink lip but it was her mane that caught one’s eye with the mirrored applique effect.

GUNNING FOR GOLD

Keeping with the metallic theme that was prominent through the night, Lily Aldridge went for statement brows giving hers a gilded touch. The supermodel went for a bronzed look, sleek pulled-back locks and let her brows do the talking painting them in a gold hue matching her Michael Kors gown.

INTO THE FUTURE

Kristen Stewart channelled a metallic robot look as she highlighted her eyes with black liner adding a futuristic touch with graphic silver eyeshadow. Her blonde mane was pinned back in a half up, half down punk like do.

HAIR SHE COMES

Lupita Nyong’o made quite an entrance on the red carpet with her towering hair do. While some felt the high bubble knot style was a tribute to her Kenyan background, others compared it to the popular character Marge Simpson. Either way, the stacked buns sure made heads turn.

FAST FORWARD

Ciara gave us a glimpse of what she’d look like 40 years down the line — yes, she’d still be rocking it. She took to the red carpet with a silver grey wavy bob channelling old school Hollywood glamour. The do beautifully complemented her 20’s inspired metallic gown.

WHO’S THAT GIRL?

Zendaya ditched her usual natural wavy hair and instead went for a sleek bowl cut. She opted for a smoky bronze eye and nude lip gloss, letting her hair take centerstage. The short bob wig added an elegant touch to the metallic Michael Kors gown.

GOTH INSPIRED

Katy Perry never fails to make a beauty statement. The songstress took the dark route with bleached brows, a deep goth lip and a dramatic modern day beehive do that complemented her Prada gown. Her look was sharp and on point.
