Seeing the piles of garbage on the roads of Pushkar situated in the Ajmer district, some of the foreign tourists from Spain took an initiative to clean the city. This initiative by the tourists is not only a big lesson for the Indian residents, but it will also affect the ignorant district administration and the state government. Pushkar is among the places which is termed as the ideal location for religious tourism and Rajasthani culture by the government.

A group of 190 tourists from Spain, named Hakuna, has come to  Pushkar with a purpose of touring the country along with providing their services to the local organisations in order to improve the education and medical facilities in India. Presently, the tourists are offering their services in a school named Fior Di Loto. They decided to clean the garbage scattered near the school. One of the foreigners William said that to prevent the spreading of diseases due to dirt, they started cleaning the area.

The residents of Pushkar said that the government and administration were aware that this image of Pushkar is ruining the popularity of the place all over the world. Moreover, the locals also complained against it many a times. But, the responsible departments did not take any action against it. After the wonderful initiative taken by the Hakuna group, now the people are expecting the local municipality to realise their responsibilities, which will result in reinstating the spoiled image of the beautiful place. It was in October 2017 that chief minister Vasundhara Raje had announced Rs 5 crore for road construction, drainage and other development works. Raje had then asked people to contribute to keep Ajmer clean and not to dump garbage on empty plots. “In Jaipur, there is a provision of penalty if an empty plot was not clean and it could be introduced in Ajmer as well,” she had said.
