Chief Election Officer (CEO) Ashwani Bhagat held separate meetings with political parties and government officials regarding voting for by-polls in Alwar on Saturday. Bhagat met political parties with their problems. Congress submitted a complaint of violation of the code of conduct against BJP. Bhagat asked political parties and candidates to maintain a register of expenditure.

He said that election commission, for the first time, is experimenting with electronically postal ballot system to reduce the time used in ballot papers. Alwar alone has 9223 voters in armed forces including 59 women. The same facility would be received by electorates in Ajmer and Mandalgarh. Besides, for the first time, VVPAT would be used in the election in Rajasthan.

There are 1827936 voters in Alwar for whom 1987 polling stations have been set up. Out of these, 499 are sensitive and 190 are extra sensitive. All highly sensitive booths will have webcast facility which can be seen live by the election commission in Alwar, Jaipur and Delhi.

From the security point of view, Alwar’s 200-km border with Haryana would be completely sealed. Unnecessary vehicle and passenger movement would be banned. To check this, 26 police posts have been set up. While Ajmer and Alwar will have 10 paramilitary companies each but Alwar will get additional 15. Bhagat appreciated district administration’s single window system and enforcement of the code of conduct. He said that EC would not tolerate violation of the code of conduct and legal action will be taken. He promised free and fair election and security for the voters.
