Even as Alwar singes, 50 calves freed from smugglers in Bundi

Cow vigilantes late on Wednesday freed about 50 claves from here, allegedly being transported from Diggi town of the state to Chattisgarh by a truck. The alleged cow smugglers fled the spot leaving behind the truck loaded with calves on National Highway 52 near Bundi tunnel under city Kotwali area of Bundi city. Police late on Thursday evening lodged a case under relevant section against four persons  and initiated the investigation.

Nitesh Gandhi, Kota division head of Rajasthan Gau Raksha Dal, said that following a tip-off that cows are being transported to a slaughter house in Chattisgarh from Diggi town., the cow vigilantes late last night started following the truck from Badanayagaun village on NH 52. When they intercepted the truck, its driver and helper fled the scene, he said.          

“I have submitted a report to the city Kotwali police mentioning the names of two alleged cow smugglers Sabir and Bhura, both residents of Multanpura in Madhya Pradesh, he said, adding the two have in the past have been caught transporting cows. The freed claves have been sent to Gau shalla, he added.  

 The cow vigilantes group (Rajasthan Gau Raksha Dal) in Bundi has far seized 23 truck carrying cows and calves for slaughter purposes, he added.
