The state government on Saturday announced monetary compensation for the family of Affrazul, who was brutally murdered by Shambhu Lal Regar at Rajsamand last Wednesday.

A cheque for Rs 5 lakh was thereafter handed over to family of the deceased on orders of chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday. The director general of police OP Galhotra was also in the district on the day on direct instructions of the CM to maintain  law and order in the district.

"The chief minister has sent me here to ensure peace and security in the area," said the DGP after a meeting police officers of the state. Visit of the DGP was also accompanied with waiver of  restrictions on Internet services in the area. The net services had been suspeneded  in the district as the murder had triggered communal tensions in the area.

It was on Wednesday evening that the incident came to light after the murderer uploaded videos of killing the victim and setting his body ablaze. The incident had caught cognizance of chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who while condemning the incident, instantaneously ordered speedy investigation.

The murderer, Shyamlal Raigar,  in the uploaded videos had claimed his crime was revenge for communal hatred and had the entire episode of him killing a minority community migrant from West Bengal recorded live. The video had been triggering communal unrest, fortunately, communal clashes were avoided due to administrative alertness and the accused was arrested within 24 hours.

The DGP on his visit to Rajsamand on Saturday also met with family and community members of the deceased and expressed condolences and assured them of justice. His visit also set aside the misconceptions that were being propagated by notorious elements to create a communal divide in the area. Meanwhile, as investigations proceed a team of officers under the district police superintendent has been maintaining close watch on the law and order situation.
