Unable to bear the trauma of another broken relationship, a 30-year-old woman burnt herself and her five-year-old daughter Tulsi to death in Memnagar.

Before meeting her present lover, Shanta had endured a failed marriage.
The police have registered a murder case against the woman for killing her daughter. Some days ago Shanta had moved out of her parent's house to stay with her lover in a rented house in Memnagar.
"We knew that she was in a relation with someone called Deepak and that he worked in her company," said Karsan Manilal, Shanta's father.
He said that when Shanta decided to stay with Deepak they allowed it and even arranged for a rented house for her. "On Saturday we were told that Shanta and Deepak were called by the Naranpura police following a complaint by his wife," said Karsan.
He said that the police ordered Deepak to stay with his wife and Santa was detained for some hours and later released. "She was depressed by the incident and this might have forced her to take the extreme step," said Karsan. Shanta had in 2002 married one Ajeet Dattani.
Ajeet and Shanta lived together for sometime and later she moved to her parents place after she got pregnant. In the meantime, Ajeet apparently ran away and never returned.
Shanta, who by then had a baby girl, began living with her parents. Some years later, Shanta met Deepak at the place where she had been working and the two fell in love.
A month ago, Shanta decided to start a new life with Deepak and moved in with him in a rented house.
It was then that Shanta learned that Deepak was married and he soon left her to live with his wife.
According to police, Shanta could not take the shock
of a second relationship failure and killed herself and her daughter.
The residents, who noticed fire coming out of the house, immediately alerted the police and the ambulance service. By the time the two managed to get help, the child had died while Shanta, who was alive, was rushed to the Civil Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
"We are yet to trace Deepak and take his statement as we don't have much information about his whereabouts," said MU Pathan, PI Ghatlodia police station.
"Moreover, we are waiting for the post mortem report and are yet to take Shanta's parents' statement," said Pathan.
