A few months back, plumber Hasmukh Parmar's joy knew no bounds when he heard that his wife Narmada was expecting their baby.  But today, a depressed Parmar is cursing his luck. Thanks to the ill treatment by the doctors at VS Hospital, Parmar has lost his son while his wife is still unconscious even after a month of being operated upon.

A pregnant Narmada was admitted to VS hospital on October 17 after she suffered epileptic fits. "We brought her to VS hospital at noon. We waited for two hours for the doctors to come. She was finally taken inside for operation at 2pm. After a while, the doctors came out and told us that my wife had delivered a still born baby," said Parmar.

He added that even after one month of operation, his wife is still unconscious and is being treated in the emergency and trauma ward at the hospital. Parmar alleged that the doctors of VS Hospital keep threatening him of removing the ventilating machine from his wife's body if he fails to pay the due fee.

"Moreover, after 25 days of operation, the doctors removed the stitches which should have been removed earlier. How can the doctors be so lazy?" he questions.

When contacted, assistant resident medical officer (RMO) Dr Milan Mod said, "The condition of the patient is quite serious. She was brought to the hospital one month back in an unconscious condition. The fits that she had during pregnancy caused the baby's death. Also, in the MRI report we found that her brain was receiving inadequate oxygen and blood due to which she is still unconscious. We have kept her on the ventilating machine but her condition is still serious." Mod added that thought Parmar hasn't yet paid pending fee of around Rs40,000, the hospital authorities are continuing treatment as they want to save his wife's life.

"We are trying our best to save her life. In fact, we haven't even complained about the non-payment of fee. On the contrary, Parmar and his relatives are insisting we discharge the unconscious woman. But, we cannot do so as she is still serious and we do not know how long it will take to bring her back to normalcy as her brain is still not receiving enough oxygen and blood," Mod said.
