Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit turned 73 today and a large number of supporters thronged her residence in New Delhi to wish her on the occasion.
It was a festive atmosphere at her 3-Motilal Nehru Place residence from early morning as supporters poured in. Bands played music and supporters sang songs to greet her.
"I am overwhelmed by the response of the people. Their love and affection will inspire me to carry on working for the well being of the people of Delhi", Dikshit said.

Mustafa Ali, a resident of Jangpura who had come to wish Dikshit, said, "This is my third visit... I had come to wish her on previous two years as well".
Workers of the Delhi Congress unit and Youth Congress were also present in large numbers as did Delhi Assembly speaker Yoganand Shastri, National Commission for SC and ST chief Buta Singh and West Delhi MP Mahabal Mishra.
Members of her family, including son and MP Sandeep Dikshit, were also there.
Dikshit was born on March 31, 1938 in Punjab's Kapurthala.
