Self-confinement: Condition of surviving Noida sister stable

The surviving sister in Noida's case of self confinement has shown signs of improvement with her blood pressure stabilising, doctors attending on her said today.

Doctors at Kailash Hospital said the blood pressure of Sonali, who is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital, has stabilised

"Her condition is stable. Our doctors say that she will take months together to improve. Her blood pressure has stabilised and she even responded to the doctors who are attending to her. She will take time because at this age her body weight is just like that of a small child," VB Joshi, spokesperson of Kailash Hospital said. Sonali is in her 40s.

Sonali's elder sister Anuradha died a day after the two were rescued on April 12 from their sector 29 apartment in a very bad condition after a self-confinement of six months.

Authorities have ordered a magisterial probe into the circumstances that led to the shocking case of self-deprivation by the sisters.

Anuradha and Sonali were apparently disturbed since their father and mother passed away some years back and their younger brother left them. In the interim period, their pet dog also died after which they got into a state of depression.

Police had broken into the apartment after being informed by neighbours and an NGO about the women who had not come out of their home for the past several months.
