The Sachhar Committee report has shown the real picture of all the non-BJP parties as they were blamed for the plight of minorities in the states where the saffron party never ruled, a senior BJP leader said here today.

"Sachhar Committee report has shown mirror to all non-BJP parties including Congress as it has blamed them for the backwardness of minorities in states like Bihar and West Bengal where the BJP was never in power," Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj said at the concluding function of the party's minority cell's two-day executive committee meeting.

"Congress, the Left and other non-BJP parties are responsible for the minorities backwardness. These parties only described 'Vande Matram' as against the minorities and raised questions on the Batla House terrorism incident," Swaraj said.

She urged the minorities not to have faith in such parties and give a chance to the BJP's ideology.

The BJP leader also highlighted steps taken by the NDA government under the leadership of former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee for the welfare of the minorities and added that even the BJP government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh has taken all possible steps for their progress and prosperity.

Swaraj, who got elected from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh also said that BJP is not against Muslims or minorities, but it was against those who divide the society on communal lines, oppose 'Vande Matram' and gives shelter to the terrorism by overlooking the pain and agony of the society.

Earlier, the party's minority cell's national president and MP, Shanawaz Hussain presented a proposal to universalise the organisation which was passed in the meeting.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, senior BJP leader Najma Heptullah and Prabhat Jha among others were present on the occasion.
