One killed, seven injured in accident in Delhi

One person was killed while seven others were injured when a speeding vehicle hit the victims in Rani Bagh area of outer Delhi in the wee hours on Sunday, police said.

40-year-old Shashi was killed while seven others were critically injured when the vehicle hit them near Madhuban Chowk underpass in Rani Bagh area around 4:45 am.

According to police, the victims were returning from a pilgrimage and heading towards Peeragarhi.

They were walking on the road, at the time of incident, as the vehicle they were travelling in had a minor collision with another vehicle.

Police said a PCR call was made at around 4:50 am and the victims were rushed to nearby hospital.

"The errant driver fled from the spot after the accident. A case has been registered under Sections 279 and 304A of the IPC in Rani Bagh police station against the errant driver," the police said.

In a separate accident on late Saturday night, a 40-year-old man was killed and his driver injured when a speeding Toyota Fortuner (SUV) hit his Tata Indigo car in Rohini Sector-3 area of outer Delhi.

Police said that Sashi Bhushan was being driven by his driver Devendra in his Tata Indigo car when the mishap took place on Saturday at around 11 pm.

The incident occurred when Devendra took a right turn on the road near Rohini Sector-3 from where the Fortuner hit his car.

"The Fortuner was being driven by Arvind (23), who is a driver by profession. The vehicle was coming from Gurgaon in Haryana," police said.

Police said that a PCR call was made at around 11:10 pm and the victims were taken to nearby hospital where Bhushan was brought declared dead.

Devendra is recuperating in the hospital, they added.

Sleuths have registered a case of rash and negligent driving.
