Now, buy IIMA case studies online

The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) has decided to make its famed case studies available online.

From March 25, 2010, interested parties can go through the abstract of the case studies given on the institute’s website and place an order for them with a fee. The institute will send the purchased case studies by email.

But an even better piece of news for MBA students elsewhere is that IIMA has decided to offer for download its teaching notes and inspection copies. Academics registered with the institute’s website will be able to download them free of charge and can distribute them among their students. The case studies, however, will not be available free even to registered academics.

The purpose of the new initiative is to make the case studies available to a larger public. Rajanish Dass, a member of the faculty at IIMA who was earlier chairperson of the institute’s computer services committee, is responsible for IIMA’s upgraded website.

“We want everybody to have access to the work that the institute has done over the past 49 years,” Dass said. “Making the case studies available for purchase online should achieve this aim.”
Till now, IIMA had been selling its case studies to buyers who had to come to the institute to make the purchase. Interested parties could check the institute’s list of studies available for sale and later place an order. Most of the purchases, however, were made by a group of regular buyers.

“But now people from any part of the world can order for the institute’s case studies,” Dass said.
