For the first time, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is showing keen interest in the entertainment industry of the state.

Modi's passion for poetry is well known and now the CM will be penning his thoughts for one of the tracks of a new Gujarati music album, Garv Chhe Gujarat that is being recorded to mark Swarnim Gujarat.

Conceived by parody king Devang Patel and his friend Jaydeep Mehta, the album will be a tribute by all artistes of Gujarati origin. Speaking about the novel venture, Devang Patel said, "The idea of bringing out this album is to gift to the people of Gujarat on the 50th anniversary of Gujarat a musical album sung by and featuring popular singers, artistes and eminent personalities of our state."

Talking about his meeting with Narendra Modi, Devang says, "Modi was really excited with the idea of bringing out a Gujarati album that will not only be a patriotic tribute from eminent Gujaratis, but will also be a peppy entertainment instrument targeting the youth of the state.

In fact it is Modi himself who has given the title of the album. And moreover, he also wants a title track devoted to kids, and we will ensure one such track."

Apart from Devang himself, singers like Pankaj Udhas, Manhar Udhas, Falguni Pathak, Parthiv Gohil, Shruti Pathak, Hemant Chauhan, Praful Dave and Priti-Pinki will be a part of the album. Sportspersons like Parthiv Patel, Pathan brothers and Ravindra Jadeja, actors like Prachi Desai, Paresh Rawal, the team of  Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Mahesh-Naresh-Hitu Kanodia, industrialists like Anil Ambani, Jay Mehta, Juhi Mehta, Karsanbhai Patel, Pankaj Patel, Gautam Adani, Sanjay Lalbhai and religious personalities such as Pramukh Swami Maharaj, and Morari Bapu, all feature on the album.

"We are planning to rope in all eminent personalities of Gujarat. Many of them have been contacted and they have reacted optimistically, said Devang. Doesn't the list include the new well-wisher of Gujarat? "Well, of course. If Bachchanji wants to be a part of it, we would indeed be glad," says Devang.

The album will comprise a range of songs, from a comedy number by Devang to a ghazal by Manhar Udhas. The signature poetry will be recited by Modi himself. The album will be released by the end of June.
