Meena Jagtap, the prosecution lawyer representing the British national, Alexandra Alcott (name changed), in a molestation case, has said that she would

be complaining against the defence lawyer, Sanjay Prajapati, for his offensive remarks against women. Prajapati had made the objectionable remarks during the hearing of the case in court on Tuesday.

“I will lodge a complaint against Sanjay Prajapati with the Bar Council of Gujarat on Monday,” Jagtap said. “His remarks were not only against Alcott but against all womanhood.”

On Tuesday, Prajapti had said in open court: “If I were a woman, I would have complained against men and put them behind bars every day.” Jagtap had objected to this comment and even the judge had taken note of it.

Later, at Jagtap’s request, Metropolitan Court magistrate NM Bundaliya ordered in-camera proceedings in the case.

The prosecution lawyer was also upset by the kind of questions that were asked of Alcott by the defence lawyer. Some of his questions were whether she consumed alcohol or smoked, what time she woke up, and who was the first and last person to leave the house the day the alleged molestation took place.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the court resumed in-camera proceedings in the case
and recorded statements of Katrizina, Bhuvan Anekar and Sunny Agarwal, all Alcott’s colleagues on the internship programme.
