Joint commissioner of police (traffic) Atul Karwal spoke at an interactive session organised by the Ahmedabad chapter of Young Indians, an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry, on Saturday.

The Gujarat IPS officer shared his three-month-long experience of successfully scaling the world’s highest peak, Mt Everest, at the event. He highlighted the experience, the challenges and lessons before the audience.

“If you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything,” said Karwal, the first IPS officer to scale the 29,029 ft mountain. He spoke about his physical and mental battle in overcoming the difficulties, which were as high as the mountain itself.

After he narrated his experience, the young audience posed questions on the death zone and how he survived it. The thoroughly religious officer replied, “Even as you test your mental and physical limits, have faith in God.”
