The Jamnagar police have arrested five people for the heist at Jam Bungalow Palace in Jamnagar. Some people had broken into the palace and escaped with antique jewellery and other precious items. The Surendranagar Local Crime Branch arrested five people in this connection during a routine patrolling. Inspector general of police, Rajkot range, Manoj Shashidharan told DNA that on the basis of a tip off, the police started checking the vehicles entering and exiting Surendranagar. "We found two people carrying some of the antiques in their vehicle," said Shashidharan.

He further said that so far investigations have revealed that the gang was trying to sell the stolen goods in some other state.  "We are in the process of finding out the exact number of people involved in the heist and the states where they were trying to sell the booty," he said. He further told DNA that the five were brought to Jamnagar on Tuesday. "Once the five are handed over to us we will investigate them," district superintendent of police, Jamnagar, RV Jotangia told DNA.

The accused have been identified as Sanjay Devipujak (21), Ashok Devipujak (18), Deepak Devipujak (21), Mukesh Devipujak (22) - all residents of Porbandar, while one Vijay Ramu (20) is a resident of Jamnagar.

Police sources said that the names of some of the arrested had earlier cropped up in house breaking incidents.

The police have seized a diamond worth Rs50 lakh, a wine box, a photo frame, utensils, ornaments, carpets and Rs5 lakh cash.
"A total of around 23 items were seized from the culprits," a police source said.
