Anna Hazare took a brief halt in Alandi to visit the samadhi and seek blessings of 12th century saint Dnyaneshwar on his way to Mumbai, where he is slated to undertake a three-day fast from tomorrow in support of a strong Lokpal bill.

The religious discourse in progress in the precincts of the Samadhi, one of the most scared pilgrim centres in Maharashtra, was drowned in the din as Hazare was greeted by scores of activists shouting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.

Security arrangements went haywire as the Gandhian entered the Dnyneshwar temple on the banks of river Indrayani in Pune district.

There was jostling and pushing in the narrow passage of the temple and at one point even Hazare was about stumble but managed to balance his gait with support.

The anti-graft crusader performed pooja of Lord Vitthal and took darshan  of the Samadhi of Dnyaneshwar.

Associates of Hazare said it was his practice to start all his agitations with a darshan of the Samadhi of the saint revered in Maharashtra.
